Grano: Biggest Fundraiser Event of the Year for John Fisher!

John Fisher’s Annual Grano Dinner and Live Auction is less than 3 weeks away and it’s going to be lots of fun! We hope we are going to see you on Sunday, February 27th at 4:30 pm.

 

    Tickets and Catalogues

If you have ordered and paid for your tickets, you will receive them via your oldest child’s communication envelope on Thursday, February 24th. Please bring your tickets with you to Grano. Along with your tickets you will receive an auction catalogue.

Thanks to generous donations from John Fisher families and neighbourhood retailers, we have incredible items this year. For example we will have Stars on Ice tickets, birthday parties, tennis camps, relaxing spa services, platinum Raptors tickets, Leaf tickets, super cool long board, autographed basketball by Chris Bosh, be principal for the day – we have something for everyone.

Tickets

We have tickets available. If you lost your form and would like to come, there are extra forms in the office. Alternatively, send a note with your name, your child’s name and room number, and a cheque. Tickets are $65 each and cheques should be payable to John Fisher School Council. We will not be selling any tickets after Tuesday, February 22th. Tickets are not available at the door.

Donations

Thank you to those that have made donations of goods, services, and gift cards for the auction. We are still seeking donations for the auction – gift certificates, athletic gear, electronics, ticket, etc. – all to benefit John Fisher and our children. Please bring your donation to the office by Thursday, February 17th.

As you are likely already aware, John Fisher’s annual live auction and dinner is coming up on Sunday, February 27th. This is one of the school’s biggest fundraisers of the year, and with your help, we would like to ensure its success.

Ticket order forms will be sent shortly via email as an attachment to be printed and returned to school and paper copies will be sent in next week’s Thursday Envelope . We hope you will come in great numbers!

There will be something in the catalogue for everyone!

While we are starting to gather great items for the auction, we are looking for more! If you have access to anything in the following categories please send them our way.

  1. Tickets to live events – sports, theatre, music, etc.
  2. Vouchers, passes or gift receipts for restaurants, spas, movies, museums, skiing, etc.
  3. Services such as personal training, naturopathic /nutrition consultation, car detailing, music lessons, ice/pool rental, home design, birthday parties, sports or activities packages, etc.
  4. Electronics – computers, phones, Blackberries, iPhones, iPods, gaming systems (Wii, xbox, PlayStation), flat screen TVs, docking stations, entertainment systems, etc.
  5. Travel – flights, luggage, camping equipment, hotel getaway packages, etc.
  6. Home – anything for the home/bath from pillows to accent furniture to small kitchen appliances, artwork, etc.
  7. Leisure – Camping gear, sporting goods (skis, boots, snow shoes…) leisure and sports apparel, etc.
  8. Crafts – Art supplies, art classes, etc.
  9. Accessories – jewellery, designer handbags, watches, etc.
  10. Food and wine – great meals, catering, in-home cooking classes, wine tasting tour, etc.
  11. Adventure – horseback riding, zip lining, hot air ballooning, circus school or other great experiences.

The Fundraising Committee raises money to enrich the education of all our children.  From French resources to gym equipment, our music program to our playground, evidence of our financial contribution is physically apparent and its benefits also extend into the intellectual and emotional growth of our children.

The Grano Dinner and Live Auction to be held on Sunday, February 27th, 2011, is one of our big events for the year.  We need YOUR help in making the 19th annual Grano Dinner a success!  Here’s how you can help:

1. Buy a ticket and attend the Grano Dinner.

This is an opportunity to get together with John Fisher parents and Staff to socialize.  New to John Fisher?  This is a great opportunity to meet other parents!  Tickets will be available for purchase as of January 27th.  Order forms will be sent home via Thursday envelope.  Please consider coming.  Buying a ticket to the dinner directly contributes to fundraising.

All tickets purchased on or before February 7, 2010 will be entered into an Early Bird draw for to win a dinner for two at Grano.

2. Donate a Gift or Service.

If you, or your company, have sports tickets, theatre tickets, resort or hotel contacts, restaurant or spa contacts, movie passes, computer or cleaning services, ice/pool rental, music or other lessons, birthday party venues, gift items etc…  Please consider donating them to our Live Auction!  We have charitable status and can offer a tax receipt for the value of the donated items.  It is these items that truly make our auction great.

In the past we have auctioned off gift baskets that we arranged from individual gift donations.  Perhaps you even have some unused gift cards hanging around the house.  Dust them off, and consider donating them!  Gift cards for any of the major chain stores are always helpful when we are putting together the baskets for auction.

3.  Volunteer to help out.

We need volunteers to put together this amazing event.  Help prepare auction baskets, set up on the day of the event, collect donated items from local stores, and more.  We have tasks both big and small and would love to have you as part of the Grano organizing team.  We’ll be having our 2010 kick-off meeting on Thursday January 13th at 7:30pm – let us know if you can join us.
