Clothing and personal items found in the hallways make their way to a centralized area at the top of the gym ramp.
This area grows quite rapidly, particularly during the winter months. Once per term, the school fills up bags of unclaimed items and donates them to charity.
The items accumulated in the Lost and Found raise three questions:
- What is the financial cost to replace these items?
- What is the environmental impact of unnecessary consumption when items need to be replaced?
- How can we increase students’ responsibility to take better care of their belongings?
When you are at the school for interviews, concerts, volunteering or picking up, please take a moment to browse through the Lost and Found items at the top of the gym ramp for any familiar looking clothing. Volunteers often take the time to hang the items for easy recognition.
Also, please remind your child to check the Lost and Found for missing items (always get permission from teacher first!). Lastly, labeling your child’s belongings makes it easier to identify lost items for both children and parents.
Please note that misplaced valuables are usually kept in the office.
