Do you know where the word ’poubelle’ originates?

In 1883 a city official in Paris thought about a way to collect garbage and dispose of it in order to keep Paris clean. M. Eugene Poubelle ordered landlords in Paris to provide containers for garbage and organized a weekly collection.  Reluctantly, the landlords obeyed but they named the containers ‘poubelles’ after the bossy city employee!
