2011 – 2012 Co-Ed Hockey Season:

Grade 6 Co-ed Hockey

It’s time to get the hockey gear ready. We have two try-outs for the school hockey team. Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 are welcome to attend. Each student is expected to bring their own skates, helmet and full equipment to the try-outs. A water bottle is also recommended. The team is comprised of 15 players. We expect to see about 50 John Fisher skaters at the try-outs. As such, some will be eliminated after the first try-out, and likely after the second one, too.

To cover the cost of ice-time rental, a $5.00 fee will be charged for each try-out and practice. You may choose to submit $10.00 to cover the two practice dates and then, if your child is selected for the team, the final $5.00 can be collected accordingly. Please attach cash to your child’s permission form. Completed forms can be left in a bin outside Mme Pryor’s room. Here is the info:

An email will go out to all skaters’ families in advance of the first try-out in order to co-ordinate driving the skaters to the arena.

2010 – 2011 Co-Ed Hockey Season:

We have booked ice time at North Toronto Arena for the John Fisher hockey team. We will welcome all skaters to the first and second try-outs then there will be a need to have the number of players whittled down to 20 for the third practice. Each player is asked to contribute $5 per practice in the form of a cheque payable to John Fisher to cover ice rental costs. Since we will be selecting the team after the second practice, you may decide to write two cheques … one for the first two practices and one after the team roster has been confirmed.

Here are the scheduled practices:

Monday, December 6th 12-1pm
Thursday, December 9th 12-1pm

For the lunchtime practices students will be dismissed at 11:30am. We will ask for parent volunteers to drive students to the arena. Students will eat lunch upon returning to JF.

Players need to bring full equipment in order to participate. Please bring your hockey bag to the foyer by Room 7; remember to place your bag against a wall so people can pass through easily. We will depart from these doors at 11:30am.

John Fisher will be having a hockey team again this year. It is a co-ed team and may include players from grades four to six. We would like to hear from any interested parents who can provide coaching time and expertise.Practices are set for the second week of December at lunch hour. Games are played through January and February, also at lunch hour.
